A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a well presented and informed Plant Area Assistant to join our team at Folkestone Garden Centre on a full time basis.
Grovewell Garden Centres are renowned for excellent, expert customer care and high-quality plants. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in plants, be an excellent communicator, polite and professional, with a keen eye for detail. Previous garden retail experience is of benefit but not essential.

This role is physically demanding and involves outdoor working in all weathers. Please note this role will include weekend and Bank Holiday working.

Responsibilities to include:
- Providing excellent customer care
- Maintaining and watering all plant stock
- Creating innovative, inspirational retail displays
- General housekeeping and shop floor maintenance
- Assisting the team with general duties

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Chef to oversee our busy, modern restaurant at Hamstreet Garden Centre. As Lead Chef, you will oversee the daily running of our kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation and hygiene. You will lead by example, cooking a wide range of freshly made dishes from our extensive menu and supporting the team during peak service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and motivating the kitchen team
• Cooking and preparing fresh food to order
• Ensuring excellent food hygiene and safety practices
• Managing stock, ordering and kitchen organisation
• Supporting menu development and specials planning
• Maintaining smooth service in a busy environment

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has proven experience as a Lead Chef, Head Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie looking to step up
• Holds (or is working towards) NVQ Level 2/3 in catering or equivalent
• Understands and upholds food safety and HACCP practices
• Can manage a kitchen team with confidence and clarity
• Works efficiently under pressure
• Has a passion for fresh, quality food and great customer experience

A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is beneficial, but we offer full in-house training if required.

We are expanding and strengthening our friendly and busy team at Groves Restaurant, Canterbury Garden Centre.

If you're a polite, hard-working individual we would like to hear from you. Customer service, barista or hospitality experience is
of benefit, but full training will be provided.

The successful candidates will:

- Be confident, friendly and presentable
- Work well as part of a team
- Have a desire to learn

Please note this role includes weekdays, weekend and bank holiday working, and is for a minimum of 16 hours.
